Maple Leaf Academy
Ltd.
has an agreement with Citizenship and Immigration, Canada to provide
English instruction for newcomers (landed immigrants and refugees) to
Calgary as well as some Skills Development Programs.
LINC
Program:
Language Instruction for
Newcomers to Canada
Sponsored by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
The LINC program provides free English instruction to qualifying
applicants.
You
qualify for the LINC program if you:
- are a landed immigrant or have refugee
status
- have lived in Canada less than three years
- are not a Canadian citizen
- have an English language assessment within
the LINC level
- have not used the number of instruction
hours allowed for LINC
To
apply for LINC instruction:
- Phone the Immigrant Language & Assessment
Referral Centre-ILVARC- (403-262-2656) and make an appointment for
a language assessment test.
- Meet with a counsellor at ILVARC to learn
about language training opportunities.
- Be referred to an appropriate English program.
Enhanced language
Training Programs
Enhanced Language Training Programs,
including some ESL programs, are sponsored
by Alberta Employment, Immigration and Industry,
Government of Alberta
Financial Assistance, or Student Finance, is available
for specific programs, for specific purposes, based on educational
goals and the financial need of the applicant.
The
SELL Program at Maple Leaf Academy
is a full time program focused on teaching
students how to attain employment in their
field and providing temporary Canadian work
experience.
A limited number of seats are available
for successful Student Finance Applicants.
